Lakeside activities at Thunderbird Lodge
Enjoy the shores and waters of Lake Buchanan conveniently from Thunderbird Lodge. Lakeside activities are the perfect way to unwind and spend more quality time with loved ones after a day of riding in the bike park at Spider Mountain. Stick around and experience the sunset over Lake Buchanan, truly an experience not to forget.
Eagle View hiking trail
Our dedicated hiking trail is FREE for lodge guests. Lift-accessed hiking is available for $10 when the lift is running. Check out our hiking page to learn more.
Pool area
The pool area at Thunderbird Lodge has been recently renovated and has a large deck with views of Lake Buchanan as well as a covered gazebo. The pool is open to lodge guests and open to bikers only during special events.
Sports & lawn games
Sand volleyball, basketball, horseshoes, and a playground are available on our campus.
Gas on Lake Buchanan

Boat rentals

Fishing
Lake Buchanan is noted for its excellent striped bass and white bass fishing, plus largemouth bass and Guadalupe bass. White bass and striped bass runs occur in the spring (February-May) with most of the fishing occurring from Beaver Creek up into the Colorado River. Striped bass are stocked by Texas Parks and Wildlife. Blue, channel and flathead catfish, plus white crappie can be found throughout the reservoir.
