Resort officials at Spider Mountain Bike Park are suspending operations this weekend, March 20-22, as a preventive measure to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus. Spider Mountain is the only year-round, chairlift-served mountain bike park in the United States and is located about an hour outside Austin, Texas near Burnet. Resort officials will re-evaluate COVID-19 guidance next week to determine future operations.
“The COVID-19 crisis compels us to make difficult decisions for the wellbeing not only of our guests and employees but also of Texans as a whole,” said managing partner James Coleman.
Bike park officials say that they will continue to follow federal, state and county guidelines and assess a reopening date on a day-by-day basis. The resort will update this website, and social media regularly with new information as it becomes available. Spider Mountain’s accompanying lodging, Thunderbird Resort, will continue its normal operations.
