Thunderbird Lodge, located in scenic Texas Hill Country, lies on the eastern shores of Lake Buchanan. Given the variety of excitement filled activities at Thunderbird and in the Hill Country area, there will never be a dull moment during your stay. The lodging itself features 23 cabins, ranging from 4 person studios to 20 person villas. Each has a fully equipped kitchen, appliances, high speed wifi, linens, cable television, barbecue grill and a picnic area.

Thunderbird Lodge Policies
Check-In Time
Our check-in time is at 4:00 PM or later on the day of your reservation.
Check-Out Time
Check-Out time is 11:00 A.M. You may request a late check out, and if granted, you will be charged 1/2 of the nightly rate on the unit.
Cancellation/Raincheck Policy
- If you need to change or cancel your reservation dates, please call our office 512-756-4878 to take care of this.
- The deposit collected at time of booking is non-refundable. In the event you cannot make your reservation dates, you will need to cancel or change the arrival date at least 7 days out, or the deposit is forfeited. Your booking may be transferred to another arrival date that is within 6 months of the original booking, at the current rate of the new reservation dates. There will be no refunds if you cannot reschedule within the 6 month timeframe.
- There are no refunds for early departures.
Pet Policy
- Certain cabins are pet friendly with a daily pet fee of $20 per pet/per day. Please let our staff know if you have pet(s) with you. Pets are not allowed in the Texan or the Spider House accommodations.
- A minimum cleaning fee of $150 will be charged if pets have been allowed on the beds and furniture. Pets must be crated at all times if they are left alone in the cabin.
- In the event you do not advise our reservation staff that you have pets, we reserve the right to add the cleaning fee to your reservation.
Excessive Cleaning Fee
Units left excessively dirty or damaged are subject to an additional cleaning fee. Please sweep and pick up cottages and don’t leave dirty dishes. Damages will be charged at what it costs us to repair.
Day Guests and Visitors
Day guests & visitors are welcome. Thunderbird Lodge at Spider Mountain offers day use passes for $15 per person over 13 during non-operational days at Spider Mountain and can be purchased at the lodge office. Days where the lift is in operation, day passes are $20 per person over 13 and includes lift access for the day. All day use passes include lake, hiking and pool access.
Deposits
All reservations require a first night deposit. This deposit is non-refundable. If your plans change, the deposit can be moved to another stay within 6 months of the original booking if we are notified 7 or more days prior to your original arrival. In the event you move your reservation, you will be responsible for an updated reservation amount in accordance with rates for those dates.
Linens and Sheets
Cottages are fully stocked with linens on your arrival. We do not provide turn-down or refresh services.
Children 6 and Under
Guests who are six years of age and under stay free.
Smoking Policy
All units at Thunderbird are NON-SMOKING. Guests are welcome to smoke outside. Guests smoking in a cottage will be charged a minimum of $150.00, based on the size of the cottage requiring remediation.
Speed Limit
The speed limit on our grounds is 5 mph – there are many children here at all times, so go SLOW. The speed limit on our entry road is 20 mph. Please be cautious of children, hikers and bikers.
Swimming
Swimming in the pool or in the lake is at your own risk. No Lifeguards! Always take a personal flotation device with you into the water.
